Session 4: Presentation Design

Live Workshop: Storytelling with Slides — Create compelling presentations with AI assistance

Session Curriculum

Master the art of creating powerful presentations using AI tools for research, content creation, and design.

01
Foundation

What Makes a Powerful Presentation?

Students learn the fundamental principles of effective presentations. Understanding what makes presentations engaging, memorable, and impactful.

Learn Core Principles of Effective Presentations

Students discover the key elements: clear structure, compelling storytelling, visual appeal, audience engagement, and confident delivery. They analyze examples of great presentations.

Explore Structure and Flow

Understanding presentation structure: introduction (hook), body (main points with evidence), and conclusion (call to action). Learning about the "rule of three" and narrative arc.

Analyze Visual Design Principles

Students learn about slide design: use of whitespace, typography, color schemes, image selection, and maintaining visual consistency. They understand how visuals support the message.

Apply Audience-Centric Thinking

Learning to tailor presentations to the audience: understanding their needs, knowledge level, and interests. Students practice identifying key messages for different audiences.

02
Research

Researching the Topic

Students learn to use AI as a research assistant to gather information, verify facts, and organize content for their presentations.

Step 1 Define Research Objectives

Students identify what they need to know about their topic: key facts, statistics, examples, expert opinions, and current trends. They create a research plan.

Step 2 Using AI for Information Gathering

Students learn to write effective research prompts, asking AI to provide information, statistics, examples, and different perspectives on their topic.

Research prompt example: "Help me research renewable energy for a school presentation. I need: - Key statistics about renewable energy adoption globally - Examples of successful renewable energy projects - Benefits and challenges of renewable energy - Current trends and future predictions - Simple explanations suitable for a high school audience Please provide sources and verify the information is accurate and recent."
Step 3 Organizing Research Findings

Students learn to categorize information: main points, supporting evidence, examples, and statistics. They create an outline from their research.

Step 4 Fact-Checking and Verification

Students learn the importance of verifying AI-provided information, cross-referencing with reliable sources, and ensuring accuracy before including in presentations.

03
Creation

Create the Presentation

Students use AI to generate presentation content, structure slides, and create initial designs. They learn to craft effective prompts for presentation creation.

Step 1 Creating Presentation Outline

Students use AI to generate a structured outline based on their research, organizing content into logical sections with clear main points.

Presentation outline prompt: "Create a presentation outline about renewable energy for a 10-minute school presentation. Include: - Title slide - Introduction (hook and overview) - 3 main sections with 2-3 key points each - Conclusion with call to action - Target audience: High school students (ages 14-17) - Tone: Engaging and informative - Format: Bullet points for each slide"
Step 2 Generating Slide Content

Students create detailed content for each slide, using AI to write clear, concise text that's appropriate for their audience and presentation length.

Slide content prompt: "Write content for a slide about solar energy benefits. Requirements: - Title: 'Benefits of Solar Energy' - 3-4 bullet points, each 1 sentence - Simple language for high school students - Include: cost savings, environmental impact, accessibility - Maximum 50 words total - Engaging and easy to understand"
Step 3 Design Suggestions and Layout

Students use AI to get design recommendations: color schemes, layout suggestions, image recommendations, and visual style that matches their topic and audience.

Step 4 Assembling the Presentation

Students compile all content into their presentation tool (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.), applying design suggestions and organizing slides in a logical flow.

04
Evaluation

Get Feedback from the Proprietary Tool

Students use our proprietary presentation evaluation tool to receive comprehensive feedback on their presentations, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Step 1 Submitting Presentation for Analysis

Students upload their presentation to the proprietary tool, which analyzes content, structure, design, and overall effectiveness.

Step 2 Receiving Comprehensive Feedback

The tool provides feedback on multiple aspects: content clarity, structure and flow, visual design, slide count and pacing, text-to-visual balance, and audience appropriateness.

Step 3 Understanding Feedback Categories

Students learn to interpret feedback scores and suggestions: what works well, what needs improvement, and specific actionable recommendations for each area.

Step 4 Prioritizing Improvements

Students identify the most important improvements to make, focusing on high-impact changes that will significantly enhance their presentation's effectiveness.

05
Refinement

Reiterate and Finalize

Students refine their presentations based on feedback, make improvements, and create a polished final version ready for delivery.

Step 1 Addressing Feedback Points

Students systematically work through feedback, making improvements to content, structure, and design. They use AI to help refine specific sections.

Step 2 Content Refinement

Students improve clarity, reduce text density, enhance visual elements, and ensure each slide has a clear purpose and message.

Content refinement prompt: "Help me improve this slide text to be more engaging and concise: Current text: 'Solar energy is a renewable energy source that comes from the sun. It is clean and does not produce pollution. Many countries are using solar energy now.' Make it: - More engaging - Shorter (maximum 30 words) - Include a compelling statistic if possible - Keep it suitable for high school audience"
Step 3 Design Polish

Students enhance visual design: improving color contrast, adjusting layouts, adding appropriate images, and ensuring consistent styling throughout.

Step 4 Final Review and Practice

Students conduct a final review, practice their delivery, time their presentation, and make any last-minute adjustments. They prepare for the actual presentation.

Step 5 Re-evaluation (Optional)

Students can optionally resubmit their improved presentation to the tool to see their progress and ensure all major issues have been addressed.

06
